Vickey Dempsey Burns (April 1, 1954 - March 26, 2024) became interested in acting in elementary school and continued to pursue this love until the end. She attended Sam Houston State University and in 1977 and she earned a BFA in Theatre with a Teaching Certificate in Theatre and English. In 1984, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Burns, who was a poet, English teacher and school principal. Jimmy and Vickey welcomed two sons, James, in 1989, and Christopher in 1992. After a brief time of teaching high school Theatre and junior high English, she worked for years at a law firm in Houston. Vickey left her job to focus on her family, direct local plays and was co-director of musicals at West Conroe Baptist Church in Conroe. She began Substitute teaching in 1998 until 2023, so she could balance her home and work with raising children and caregiving for her husband who suffered a stroke in 2005. Following Jimmy’s death in 2013, Vickey realized how short life is and again pursued her dream of acting in movies. She had roles in small films like “Paying Dues,” “Little Adorable,” “Open Waters,” “Soulless,” “The Jacket,” “American Driver,” and “Reina of the West,” among others.
